The Orange Blossoms were formed during the summer of 2024 in the East Village of New York City. Singer/songwriter Will Sutton had messaged legendary producer of The Strokes, Gordon Raphael, on Instagram with a demo recording of "Avenue A". Raphael was so impressed that he immediately booked them for a session at Mercy Sound Studios.
On a cold October morning in a small second-floor studio above a laundromat in Alphabet City, The Orange Blossoms and Gordon Raphael recorded their first two singles, "Avenue A" and "God Save The East Village". Since then, they have been playing on the local club circuit, at venues such as Nublu, The Cutting Room, Berlin and The Under St. Marks Theater.
They returned to Mercy Sound for just three days in June 2025 to record their full length debut album, produced by Gordon Raphael, who says of Will Sutton's songs, "These songs are so terrific I don't understand why he's not being hailed as this generation's Bob Bowie or David Dylan!"
The Orange Blossoms are the latest in the lineage of poetic, urban, raw rock 'n' roll. From The Velvet Underground to Patti Smith and Television to the Bad Brains and Sonic Youth to The Strokes and beyond, The Blossoms follow that path towards the future, blending guitar-based post-punk instrumentation with unpredictable, innovate songwriting, introspective lyrics and intense, impassioned performances.
